What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound from the Cannabis plant, which is also known as Hemp. It's a naturally occurring substance that's used in products like oils and edibles to gain a feeling of relaxation and calm. Unlike its cousin, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the major active ingredient in marijuana, CBD is not psychoactive typically containing no more than 0.2% THC.

Will CBD get me high?

Will I get high from taking CBD?
No, Hemp plants (CBD) contain 0.2% THC whereas the marijuana plant is much more prevalent with THC. THC  is the psychoactive side of the cannabis family, whereas CBD is the non psychoactive side. Although there are still trace amounts of THC in CBD products this is not enough to give you a euphoric feeling according to top cannabis scientists.

Are there side effects to taking CBD?

CBD is generally well tolerated and considered safe. As with any other supplement, there is a chance that it could cause adverse reactions for some people, and could interact with certain medications. As with any dietary supplement, consult your physician before use if you are pregnant, nursing, have or suspect a medical condition or are taking any medications.

The human body has a vast network of receptors, called the Endocannabinoid System. The purpose of this system is to help our body stay balanced and in good overall health, even when external factors and certain lifestyle choices diminish our wellbeing. CBD and other cannabinoids fit into the receptors of the Endocannabinoid System, helping the body complete its efforts to keep us in good health by supporting many of the body’s physical processes.
